End of an Era?

Update 10/4: Some complications have occurred, and Heather and I will no longer be having a baby. At least not yet. :(

Greg recently blogged about the "end of an era" that we, as a [cult], are about to experience. Most of you know - and if you don't, you're about to learn, lol - that Heather and I are set to get married October 9, 2010.

I couldn't be happier with anybody else, she's my number one fan. My confidant. My best friend. And my lover. I'm excited for the wedding...it's a lot of planning, but I think the whole weekend will be a good time. We're planning on having a family dinner (or brunch), a joint bachelor/bachelorette party (I guess you could call it that). That might be the most fun, we're lookin' at having access to a swimming pool, a pool table, a ping pong table. We may play some flag football, might hook up Rock Band, and whatever other shenanigans we can tie into it.

Then of course, there will be the wedding and the reception, which should be fun as well. We're not planning on having a stuffy wedding, so I hope everybody that reads this will be excited to come and be a part of it.

As if that's not enough going on in my life that is, well, totally major...we're expecting.

The last couple of weeks, Heather hadn't been acting like herself IMO, and this past Friday night she wasn't feeling well either. So Saturday morning, she woke up at like 4:30am - she had to work at 7:30 am, but couldn't get back to sleep. So after tossing and turning a bit, she got up to get ready for work, and she decided to take a pregnancy test.

As she brushed her teeth, she came into the bedroom and turned on the bedside light. Then she started poking me until I awoke, and pointed at the test. I looked at it, then back at her, and I said (according to her, lol), "Is that for real?"

While at work that morning, she decided to take another test at the request of her also-pregnant co-worker. Different brand even, but same result. When she came home, we decided to tell our families right away, so we'd be able to get lots of opinions (and help).

Everybody's happy. Everybody's excited. Our first doctor appointment is next Friday (10/2), to confirm that we are indeed pregnant. And then we'll see where things go from there.

So perhaps it is the end of an era, to an extent. I'm going to be available even less for road trips, WrestleManias, CrueFests, and whatever other shenanigans my friends and I enjoy getting into...

But it's also the beginning of a new era. The second generation of the [cult]. :-) Greg has already dubbed the little one "The Young Money Heel," lmao.

If it's a boy, he'll be Andrew Jewel...a girl, Riley Dianne. If it's twins, I'm running for the hills. lmao.

It doesn't necessarily feel real yet, and I feel like we're scrambling a bit now...just so much going on, and it feels like so little time to do it in. We have engagement pictures tomorrow afternoon (9/23) in Ames. And next week, we have to secure our reception location.

It's crazy.

A crazy, crazy life we lead. Some people may not like how I've turned out, but they haven't necessarily been there through it all - I have. I'm such a different person than I was, just earlier in the very existence of this blog. I've done a 180, and while it's kind of scary and nerve-wracking to think about, I know I'm ready to be a daddy.

tenderly i remain,
